Charitable Solicitation Registration
Charitable Solicitation Registration in All 50 States
We register your nonprofit to fundraise in every state that requires it, then keep each registration renewed, so you can ask for donations anywhere without risking penalties or an order to stop soliciting.
Why it matters
Most states require registration before you ask for donations
Roughly 40 states and the District of Columbia require charities to register before soliciting their residents, whether by mail, events, phone, or in many cases online. Each state has its own forms, fees, financial-reporting thresholds and renewal deadlines.
Fundraising in a state without a required registration can lead to fines, late fees, and orders to stop soliciting there. Keeping dozens of state deadlines straight is exactly the work we take off your plate.
That's why many nonprofits outsource it. As a charitable solicitation compliance service, we handle multi-state charitable registration from start to finish: initial filings in every state you need, then a renewal service that tracks and files each state's annual report on time.

FAQ
Charitable registration questions
Which states require charitable solicitation registration?
Roughly 40 states and the District of Columbia require charities to register before asking their residents for donations. The rest either have no registration requirement or exempt most organizations. Each state sets its own forms, fees, deadlines and financial-reporting rules, and we work out which ones apply to you.
Do we need to register if we only fundraise online?
It depends on the state and on how you fundraise. Many states look at whether you specifically target their residents or regularly receive donations from them, rather than only whether a donate button exists. We review where your donors are and how you solicit, then recommend which registrations you need.
What do you need from us to get started?
Most states ask for your IRS determination letter, your most recent Form 990, financial statements, articles of incorporation and bylaws, and a list of officers and directors. After you choose your states, your client portal shows exactly which documents to upload.
How much does it cost?
Our first-year service fee is $425 per state for 1 to 5 states, $375 per state for 6 to 13 states, and a flat $4,950 for 14 or more states. For example, registering in 10 states is $3,750. Yearly renewals are $375 per state (1 to 5), $325 per state (6 to 13), or $4,500 flat (14 or more). You see your exact total before you pay.
How long does registration take?
Processing times are set by each state and range from a few days to several weeks. We prepare and submit filings as soon as your documents are complete and track every state until it is approved.
Can we outsource our charitable registration and renewals?
Yes. Many nonprofits outsource multi-state charitable registration so staff don't have to track dozens of state forms and deadlines. We prepare and file your initial registrations, then handle each state's annual renewal before it's due, so your registrations stay current while you focus on your mission.
Do registrations have to be renewed?
Yes. Most states require an annual renewal, often tied to your fiscal year end and your Form 990. We track renewal dates for each state so registrations don't lapse.
